Zion's Liberty Bell Church in downtown Allentown annually celebrates its heritage as the place where the Liberty Bell was hidden during the Revolutionary War. But on Sunday, Sept. 23, in connection with the celebration of Allentown's 250th anniversary, the church will hold at "Back to the Future" Colonial Service, combining the church's Colonial-era heritage and its contemporary ministry.
The Rev. Geoffrey Black, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ, will be guest speaker.
Traditional hymns from the German Reformed Church playlist will be sung, accompanied by pipe organ, as well as contemporary Christian music played by God's House Band.
The Spanish Church of God congregation, a partner in ministry in Zion's building, will join in. "We'll try singing a little in Spanish, and they'll try singing a little in German," says senior pastor Rev. Bob Stevens.
A traditional covered dish luncheon will follow the service.
