There's some good news and bad news for Sony smartphone owners: You will be getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?but you won't get it until the 2013, according to a blog post from Sony.

The brand new devices like the Xperia T, Xperia V and Xperia TX launched with Android Ice Cream Sandwich and these will be the first devices to get Android 4.1 in the middle of the first quarter of 2013. Other handsets like the Xperia S, Xperia arco S, Xperioa ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and the Xperia J will also be given the update but Sony said it will give timing details later.?

This is good news for Sony smartphones owners because Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings a host of new features. You can read our full review?of the latest version of the software but let's just say it's the best version of Android yet.?

Probably the best bit about Android Jelly Bean is that it runs much, much smoother than any previous version of the software. This is due to the "Project Butter" initiative from Google and this means that touch interactions, scrolling and switching between apps is much quicker.?

The Sony phones with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will also get cool features like offline maps, offline voice dictation and more. Let's keep an eye on this to make sure that Sony follows through with its promises.
